Like all artists I had a trepidation about AI, not only for its potential to replace us but also its environmental impact. As a Creative Technologist, however, I had to come to an understanding with its potential and how to use it legally and ethicaly. Like the early days of immersive tech and smart phones, I can see the potential of AI when put in the right hands, and the exponential possibilities it creates. I hope that we find a way to make AI more efficient and lessen its environmental impact while maintaining it in a way that keeps our own humanity intact as we harness its power as a tool to take creativity beyond our imagination.

I have created images and told stories with the help of Firefly, Midjourney, Claude and Chat GPT, and where AI fails me I have a place in my process for my 30 years of creative skills that make up for AI’s shortcomings.
